YOU ungrateful spoilt rotten brat*

I don't come from the culture where Thanksgiving is celebrated with enthusiasm (in fact, we don't celebrate it at all); but I love the concept behind it nonetheless. We all have our challenges - early morning classes, foreign language, friends and dramas - but we also have tons of things to be thankful for. Here's few things and peeps am grateful for right about now.

0. I'm thankful for the Facebook "LIKE" button - its the easiest way to pass by without commenting!!! Also for "RE-TWEET / FAVORITE" on Twitter.

1. All YOU guys :: I've come in touch with so many people through this blog - some I've friend-ed. I'm thankful for all those encouraging e-mails. I've saved each of those e-mails and each time I read 'em, I smile - enthused to do better. You know who you are.

2. Super spunky parents who never ask me about my school grades (I'd be in trouble if they do). Not that am suggesting they've poor parenting skills but that they've done their job well and they believe me with absolute certainty.

3. I'm extremely thankful that (one day) my boredom led me to randomly search blogs and YouTube that inspired me to create a blog of my own. I've met most inspiring people over on the Internet.
4. Super grateful that I keep meeting right people in my life. 2011 was no exception. If you believe in the concept of god, I can say with billion percent certainty that god love's me. I'm grateful to my friend who stay with me through thick and thin.

o.k. making the list is proving to be hard. am literally gnawing the tip of the pen and thinking... not.

5. I'm grateful for the blessing that always seem to goes unnoticed and that we take for granted, like a beautiful summers morning and the fact that I am have been blessed to be alive and experience. I'm also thankful that my routine permits me to sleep through those mornings. I'm more like a night person, but I like the concept of being the morning person.

6. Thankful for chocolates, booze, cigarettes and ... !!! What would we do without 'em.

7. Facebook, without which I'd be out of touch with my folks. Literally!!!

8. GOOGLE, WIKIPEDIA :: How would I complete my homework otherwise? Google + Wikipedia → Copy → Paste → Change words a little → Print → HOMEWORK FINISHED.

9. For having those people in life who never fail to say that are proud of me and also for those who pinpoint my faults. You need both kinds.

10. And to those who are reading this blog post. I mean writing to myself would be lame otherwise. Thank gosh you're reading it. Now tell me what are you most thankful for in the comments below...

all we need is shitloads of L'

Iris : I have found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." Oh! What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man (Looking at Jasper) for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and Valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I have been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can't swallow! All the usual symptoms.

Prime Minister : Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.

*The United Colors of Benetton*

Very aptly named - The United Colors of Benetton - does it again. The new ad campaign from Italian clothing company United Colors of Benetton called “Unhate" is nothing but controversial. At first, the images are shocking. President Obama planting a kiss on Chinese President Hu Jintao’s lips. German Chancellor Angela Merkel smooches French President Nicolas Sarkozy, her nation’s economic rival.  The images are digitally manipulated but they send a pointed message. The newly unveiled UNHATE Foundation seeks to promote a culture of tolerance and combat hatred around the world (quite obviously not  the latest political scandal).  Already a source of controversy - the images to me sends a direct message - UNHATE. The company is known for its striking, and often controversial, ads. Past ads have shown a priest kissing a nun, a white baby breast-feeding from a black woman and three human hearts with the words “white,” “black” and “yellow” printed over them.
I've always been a big fan of Benetton ad campaigns. In the world where there are discrimination's based on color, race, sexuality (legally and in personal level), the company promotes all colors, races, sexuality pointedly and with flair.  It doesn't follow rules, as most of us would.  Gays, Black, White, Yellow, Oriental, Aryans, Caucasians, Negros, Hispanics... all have a place in their ads and hence called The United Colors of Benetton instead of The Colors of Benetton. Big shoutout to UNHATE.

(not) saving the best for last!!! urgh***

Saving the best for last is a saying that we’ve all heard. But who started it? And, really, what were they thinking? Recently I read,
"Saving the best for lastAs best as I can tell, the saying has a military origin. As advancing armies approached, archers were urged to save their best arrows for closer combat. Though “save the best for last” may be good advice for medieval archers, I think it’s anything but sound for you and me."
My brother always eats his not so favorite foods first. He starts with the vegtables. Then the salad. And then finally, when everything else has been consumed (and might I remind you by this time he’s already a bit full), he indulges in the burger that he wanted from the get-go. My mum saves the best sweets / deserts till we are done with dinner (without a doubt I REBEL). When I get myself a new fancy shirt my dad wants me to save it for a proper occasion (seriously???). I bet there's somebody in your life who have pledged to follow the saying SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST till their last breath. My reaction, "shrug off this attitude."
Just a reminder, life is very short. Don’t put off the things that you want to do – or else you may run out of time to do them. You are so worth the indulgence of whatever it is that you want right now – be it a new career, a long vacation for your self, virginity (touchy subject, oopsyyy) or even a burger. All you have is the here and now; enjoy it :: Stay insanely happy!!!

u just ve one LIFE. keep it simple.

I haven't been blogging for a while now. There's just too much to write and talk 'bout. I want to write about the crazy nights I have had with my friends, my mini travels and this new book I am reading. All in all, I regret staying away from the blog.
  • Lately, I've been out of touch with my blog buddies and I absolutely hate it.
  • Lately, I've been partying a lot (my bone hurts).
  • Lately, I've been struggling with trust in people who I thought I could count on (just so you know the trust in question is already restored).
  • Lately, I've been missing Kathmandu.
  • Lately, I've been doing much needed soul searching.
  • Lately, winter is saying 'ello and I already miss summer warmth .
  • Lately, I've been meeting new people and they inspired me topics to blog 'bout (which I'll do in few days time).
This (lately) list can go on for ever. On to deeper issues now. Its amazing how our heart feels the strata of emotions. Given a right circumstance and push we all are capable of feeling divergent emotions. Past month I got to experience potpourri of emotions - Love, Hate, Anxiety, Agony, Happiness, Confusion, Doubts. And after all these potpourri of E's I deduce - its totally incapable for us to hold onto one particular emotion.
I've always known (or convinced myself) that its near impossible to capture and hold onto one particular emotion to eternity. You love someone and sooner or later you fall out of it. You hate someone and soon enough you'll be guilt bound, forgiving. You miss someone and not so far in the future you'll recover (remember : out of sight = out of mind). The sad reality : sometimes people are replaceable. I am, at times, put off by this expletive; but other times pleased by its (life's) novelty. Sometimes we carry our emotions down our sleeves or get carried away. There are times we loose control and emotions take over. We argue, complain. But this necessarily isn't a bad thing. Arguing ventilates the anger within us. Bad is removed so that we can make more space for good. Complaining shows that we care. So whenever in bad situation remember good times ain't far away. Go crazy, banter ballistically, punch the wall, skip meals, throw tantrums but take a deep breath and remind yourself - this feeling shall pass. "Down comes the rain, up comes the sun" and sun always brings warmth and sunshine with it. So look forward to your (possibility) of happy ending.
  • Lately, I've been really HAPPY.
  • Lately, I've been getting ample laugh.
